-you do not change physical things outside of yourself, but the way in which you perceive or interact with matter and external objects
-the brain processes 400 billion bits of information a second
-we are only aware of 2000 of those
-two sets of laws of universe
-classical/Newtonian: at human size and time scale - Newton's laws of motion (billiard balls, canon balls, gravity)
-quantum theory: at level of atoms particles may be at multiple places at same time (superposition), may behave as waves (wave/particle duality), may be interconnected over great distances (entanglement), may be unified into one state governed by one wave function (Bose-Einstein Condensates)
-curtain between classical and quantum world sometimes called "collapse of wave function"
-quantum world - possibilities and classical world - collapse into definite choices
-Planck scale - fundamental level of space-time geometry
-information/pattern (fabric of universe)
-universe is mostly empty
-objects never really touch each other
-electrons effect each other through repulsive electric forces
-second law of thermodynamics states that things unwind and move forward (arrow of time)
-quantum world - no "arrow" of time as things can move backwards or be timeless
-time reversal symmetry - a set of laws that are time reversal symmetric is equally "valid" going backwards as forwards
-neuroscience experiment - while patients of neurosurgery were awake little finger stimulated and notes taken on sensory cortex of where it happened in brain. when little finger stimulated - felt instantly/when spot on cortex stimulated - took finite amount of time. brain projecting information backwards in time
-double-slit experiment
-when matter shot through two slits - two bonds appear on board
-when waves shot through two slits - interference pattern occurs
-when electrons fired through single slit - behaves as matter
-when electrons fired through two slits - behaves as wave
-maybe electrons bounce of each other to create interference pattern - fired them one at a time (still had interference pattern)
-single electron leaves as particle, becomes wave of potential goes through both slits and interferes with itself
-a single electron goes through both slits, neither, left one only, right one only
-when a measuring device put by one slit to test this, electrons through two slits - behaved as matter
-observer collapsed wave function by observing
-when you observe, things happen and when you do not observe, they do not happen
-if time-reversal symmetry destroys perception of time, then entanglement crushes perception of space
-two electrons created together are entangled. send one to other side of universe and do something to one and the other responds instantly
-information is traveling infinitely fast or the electrons are still connected
-since everything was entangled at moment of big bang, everything is still "touching"
-space is construct that creates illusion of separateness
-states of matter have been created in which matter can be in up to 3000 positions at once (first of these objects were Bose-Einstein Condensates)
-single wave functions/particles with multiple positions
-if you weighed any of the positions of the particle it would not weigh 1/3000 because you could not weigh one of them because it is only one
-two simple black boxes with simple electric circuit with a few diodes, oscillator, "e-prom," some resistors and capacitors inside
-one wrapped in aluminum foil and put it in electrically ground cage
-the other set on table top with four mediators sitting around
-they go into meditative state and one speaks the intent. then the intention is held by the four for 15 minutes. another intent is made to seal imprint on device
-the wrapped one is sent 2000 miles away to a lab and they found the tool somehow could change (for example) the pH of water
-the average person loses attention span every 6-10 seconds per minute
-frontal lobe responsible for firm intention, decision making, regulating behavior, inspiration
-brain is made up of tiny nerve cells called neurons
-neurons have tiny "branches" that reach out and connect to other neurons to form neuronet
-each place where neurons connect is integrated into a thought of memory
-brain builds concepts by law of associative memory (ideas, thoughts and feelings are all constructed and interconnected in neuronet and all have a possible relationship with one another
-brain does not know difference between what it sees in its environment and what it remembers
-same neuronets fire for both
-hypothalamus creates different peptide for every emotion, sends it through blood to parts of body. cell's receptors grab it and react to peptides makeup
-if you cannot control your emotional state, you must be addicted to it
-when a cell that is "addicted" to a certain neuropeptide (emotion), a sister cell it creates will have more receptor sites for those particular emotional neuropeptides and less receptor sites for vitamins, minerals, nutrients, fluids exchange and release for toxic waste products
